Bissett Fasteners will no longer be carrying MAX products, effective immediately.

The main reason for this decision is based on trust. MAX presented Bissett with a “new” contract late last year that required Bissett to provide them with all of our “Point of Sale” information on MAX product in the Canadian market in order to qualify for a “new” rebate that represented about half of our normal margin from selling their products. We had been providing them with POS up to a few years ago to qualify for a small rebate but stopped because we caught MAX approaching our larger dealers to sell them directly. MAX has also held back orders for product and for parts which were placed in December in an attempt to force us into agreeing to their terms.

We try to operate our business in partnership with our customers. We don’t go around our customers to go direct to their customers. We communicate pricing trends to our customers well in advance of implementing changes so that they can react and adjust their prices accordingly. And we ask for purchasing forecasts so we can have the product our customers need to run their businesses. MAX is not a partner.

Below is a summary of how we will deal with MAX products in the Canadian market.

MAX 100 PSI Tool Service:
We will continue to service all the current 100 PSI MAX tools we have in the market as we transition out of this brand. We have found an alternative source for the MAX parts. We have Bissett and Everwin tools ready to take MAX’s place. We will be launching our Bissett finishing tools in the coming months.

MAX Rebar Tool Service:
We will continue to service all MAX rebar tools for customers who continue to support Bissett. We have found an alternative source for these parts.

Bissett Rebar Wire:
We have decided to move forward with our own Bissett Rebar Wire. The BCM-TW898 21 gauge will be available in Standard Black, EG, PC and SS. The price will be about 50% lower than MAX wire. The twin tier is a great tool but the patent prevents competition. The savings from one skid of our wire will get you 3 x Makita tools.

Recommended Rebar Tool:
Makita DTR180ZK (we can facilitate access if need be). This is a trusted brand that is serviced by Makita in any of their 14 service centers across Canada.
