In this post, Bissett Service Department shows how to quickly fix a trigger valve issue- a common cause of air leaks in pneumatic nailers.

The Problem: Constant Air Leak Through Trigger

You pull the trigger, and instead of firing a nail, you get a loud rushing sound and a stream of air through the handle. Sound familiar?

This usually means your trigger valve is worn out, but the good news is:

  1. It’s an easy fix
  2. You don’t need to scrap the tool
  3. You can do it yourself in a few minutes

How to Fix a Worn Trigger Valve

Tools You’ll Need:

  • Retainer pin punch
  • Compressed air
  • New trigger valve kit (available at Bissett Service Centres)
  • Pneumatic tool grease

Step-by-Step:

  1. Remove the retainer pins holding the trigger assembly
  2. Apply compressed air to pop out the old trigger valve
  3. Grease the new valve to ensure a smooth seal
  4. Insert the new trigger valve
  5. Replace the pivot and retainer pins

That’s it, you’re back in business. This repair will restore full function to your nailer and prevent further internal damage from leaking air pressure.

Pro Tip: Keep a Spare Valve Kit On Hand

If you’re running a crew or managing a jobsite, trigger valve failure is inevitable over time. Be proactive! Stock spare valves for your most-used nailers so your team stays productive.
