As a family owned Canadian company that began in 1929, we know that construction professionals need products and service they can count on.  Our slogan “Driven By Professionals” is the driving force behind all the products and services we offer. As part of a new initiative, we wanted to highlight some professionals in our industry who are doing some pretty incredible things. Each month we will be featuring someone in our industry to learn a little bit more about them and the type of work they specialize in.

These days have been pretty busy for Thibault Navarro, an apprentice carpenter based out of Montreal, Quebec. With a rapidly growing Instagram following (38.9k) , you may have seen some of Thibault’s tool reviews while scrolling your explore feed. His passion for our industry combined with his photography skills (and his great sense of humour) make him first on our list to talk with.

Here are 8 questions with @French_MTL_Carpentry:

  1. Who are you?

My name is Thibault Navarro, I’m 30 years old from Quebec, Canada.

  1. What’s your specialty?

I’m a carpenter and a remodeler.

  1. How did you get into the trade?

At 27, I helped a carpenter friend to build his house. I asked him “Man, is this really what you do everyday?”. He said, “yes”. One week later I quit my job and I enrolled in carpentry school.

  1. What’s your favourite part about work?

The framing part, everything goes fast and you see a huge result in no time!

  1. What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in the workplace?

Working outside at -40 degrees Celsius, it was a very hard time.

  1. What project/job(s) are you the most proud of?

A turnkey project, we start from the foundations and goes all the way up to the trim and hardware, it is so satisfying to see a finish project!

  1. What advice would you give to someone getting into the trade?

Ask all the questions, never be late, and have fun with the team. This is a dream job and you’re gonna learn every day of you are curious enough to ask questions to your colleagues.

  1. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Having good quality time with my family, doing a bit of woodworking, and some photography.
