Driven By Professionals: Interview with Joshua Robinson (090 Builders Group)
As a family owned Canadian company that began in 1929, we know that construction professionals need products and service they can count on. Our slogan “Driven By Professionals” is the driving force behind all the products and services we offer. As part of a new initiative, we wanted to highlight some professionals in our industry who are doing some pretty incredible things. Each month we will be featuring two individuals in our industry to learn a little bit more about them and the type of work they specialize in.
In our industry you have likely heard of the powerhouse company 090 Builders Group Inc. They are Canadian framing specialists, whose strong work ethic, mobility, and innovation continue to set the standards for excellence in our industry. They have completed projects from coast to coast, primarily wood frame construction for multi-family developments. In this interview we chat with one of the owners/manager Joshua Robinson to learn more about his business and how he got where he is today.

- Who are you?
Joshua Robinson, owner/ manager – 090 Builders Group Inc.
- What’s your specialty?
4-6 storey, multi-family, wood framing specialists.
- How did you get into the trade?
Started at the bottom; sweeping out units, learning to frame, how to read plans, and climbed the ladder.
- What’s your favourite part about work?
What’s not to like? Show up everyday and get to see your efforts materialize into a building. I enjoy helping shape new employees and training them for a lifelong career.
- What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in the workplace?
With 090’s mobile abilities, it is challenging working in varying extreme outdoor conditions, traveling north to rural communities, adhering to ever-changing trade specifications.
- What project/job(s) are you the most proud of?
I am most proud of Cambridge Bay; it was a multi-family build that involved a lot of hand framed roof – they were unique plans that got us all thinking and using our skills.
- What advice would you give to someone getting into the trade?
Stick with it and pay attention.
- What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and dogs, we like to get out for walks by the ocean or up in the mountains.
